After a busy summer at Belvoir Drive, LCFC Women are back in competitive action for the first time since May, with new arrivals hoping to make their mark for the Foxes.
The WSL season’s big kick-off is on Friday night as champions Chelsea host last year’s Subway Women’s League Cup runners-up Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.
We’ll have to wait until 12pm on Sunday for our curtain-raiser, which is hosted at Leigh Sports Village, taking on 24/25 Adobe Women’s FA Cup finalists Man Utd.
Ahead of the big kick-off, here’s all you need to know…
Tickets
Although the online ticket sales window for this fixture has now ended, Fox Travel remains available – priced at £19.60 (exc. booking fees), with coaches set to depart from King Power Stadium from 8am on matchday.
We advise supporters to arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to the departure time. Hot and cold beverages will be available on board – please note, we can accept cash payments only. More information. Man Utd in focus
Hoping to build on last term’s third-placed finish, the Red Devils have added Swedish duo Julia Zigiotti Olme and Fridolina Rolfö to their ranks this summer.
24/25 top goalscorer Elisabeth Terland will be hoping to go even further than her tally of 12 strikes in all competitions this time around, while there's plenty of recognisable names in Marc Skinner’s squad, including Lioness Ella Toone.
Pre-season action, on the other hand, has included friendly victories over Aston Villa and Real Betis this summer, with Man City and Liverpool holding United to draws.
The Red Devils sealed a double over us last term, coming out 2-0 in both fixtures, so the Foxes will be eager to put that right on the opening day of this coming season.
The Foxes’ camp
We’ve also added to our squad over the summer, with goalkeeper Katie Keane (Shamrock Rovers), midfielder Celeste Boureille (Montpellier) and defender Heather Payne (Everton) joining our ranks ahead of Transfer Deadline Day (4 September).
Stay tuned to LCFC.com and our LCFC Women social media feeds over the coming days for more Club news and previews as we approach the opening weekend.
Follow the action
As usual, we’ll provide full updates from Manchester on Sunday across our social media channels, with coverage on our X, Facebook, Instagram and Threads feeds. Sunday’s game will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports Premier League from 11am, with full highlights and reaction to follow on Foxes Hub in the following days.
