Milan assumed ownership of Leicester City in 2007, overseeing a period of transition that culminated in the Club’s return to the Championship as League 1 champions in 2009. His passion for football and determination to build a competitive side were central to that achievement.
With the Club back in the Championship, Milan sold Leicester City to King Power Group in 2010, beginning a new era that would go on to bring historic achievements to Filbert Way.
Leicester City Chairman and acting Chief Executive, Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, said: “On behalf of everyone at Leicester City, I send our deepest sympathies to Milan’s family and friends.
“Milan was a true football man, whose infectious passion and enthusiasm for the game left a lasting impression on every club he served. He cared for Leicester City and helped to steer the Club through a challenging period in our history.
“We remember him with respect and gratitude for the spirit he brought to the game he loved. Milan was a good guy and he will be missed.”
A Serbian-American businessman with a lifelong love of the game, Milan’s career in football spanned continents and decades. From his ownership of Portsmouth, Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday, to his earlier ventures in European and American football, he earned a reputation as a hands-on, charismatic figure with an enduring passion for the sport.
Everyone at Leicester City extends their sincere condolences to Milan’s family and friends at this sad time.
