LCFC Women beaten 3-1 by Manchester City on Sunday afternoon

The Foxes bowed out of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup in the fifth round
Amandine Miquel shared her thoughts on the performance
Defeat to the Citizens brought an end to the FA Cup dream and copying their incredible feat last season, when they went all the way to the semi-final.
First half goals from Leila Ouahabi and Nicola Kerolin sent the hosts on their way to victory, before Khadija Shaw’s goal in the second half. Academy graduate Nelly Las did pull one back for the Foxes, and hit another milestone in her development, but the Manager believes it was too little too late.
Leicester were beaten in Manchester.
“We need to do more, if we’re not perfect in what we do, we need to have more energy and fighting spirit,” Miquel stated post-match on Sunday. “We did at the end but it’s a bit too late. “We can’t be jogging on the pitch against a side who are so technical and have a lot of strengths. If you’re not giving everything, you can’t start to compete.
“If we want to have a nice end of the season, we need people to care more and put in more effort than this.”
Olivia Clark and Hlín Eiríksdóttir both made their first starts for the Club last in Manchester last weekend, and Miquel believes they performed well and showed signs of promise, despite the defeat.
She added: “It’s hard to take three goals, but any goalkeeper that would’ve played today would have taken those three goals. I think she did good with the saves she had to make and it was promising for the future.
“She [Hlín Eiríksdóttir] has the ability to win aerial duels, she fights hard and tries her best; that’s the type of player we need in these coming games.”
A late surge saw Nelly Las find the net.
With just one competition remaining this season for Leicester, all focus turns to the Barclays Women’s Super League and securing top-flight status once more. The former Stade de Reims Manager pointed to Academy products who could play their part.
“We would have been fully focused on the league anyway, and we would have been happy to still be in the cup,” Miquel continued. “We would’ve managed to stay focused on more than one competition, but no focus must be on that one.
“I’m the type of Manager that loves bringing in new players and young players. What they do is not perfect, but the energy is there and if I had to pick between the two, I would go with energy.
“For the games to come in the league, the ones that play will be the ones that bring the energy for the Club.”
