Amandine Miquel discussed Sunday's 2-0 loss to Manchester United

City next face Chelsea on Wednesday evening in a quick turnaround
The hunt for a first away win in the Barclays Women’s Super League continues for Miquel, after a 2-0 loss to the Red Devils last time out. Frustrated that it took until the second half to start applying pressure to the Man Utd defence, the Manager was pleased with how her side finished the game, and spoke on the importance of Yuka Momiki, who wasn’t fit enough to start the game after her late arrival back into the country following international duty with Japan. The Foxes lost out to Man Utd at Leigh Sports Village.
“I think that we had better occasions in the second half,” Miquel opened with. “We didn’t manage to score but it was already good that we were getting chances. We were much more aggressive and better in position.
“She (Yuka Momiki) had a big impact when she came on. Her positioning was great but also in the whole midfield, it helped us link up to find the wingers which wasn’t the case in the first half.
“She’s in a high moment at the moment, just coming back from the national team with great confidence. But she wasn’t ready to start, coming in late yesterday from a different time zone.”
The Manager commended City's second half performance.
Despite walking away with nothing from their efforts, the former Stade de Reims Manager saw great improvement in the team during her first year in charge and set her side the task of repeating the second half performance midweek against Chelsea.
Miquel added: “I think if we compare this game and the home game, we had against them (Man Utd), there’s big differences in what we proposed and it’s getting much better.
“We were giving trouble to a team that’s second right now so it’s good for the next games, but we must really focus on the intensity and impact we had in the second half and produce that for the full 90 minutes.”
