Goals from Melvine Malard and Leah Galton in the first half were the difference between the two sides as Leicester failed to get their first away win of the season in the Barclays Women's Super.
Amandine Miquel named an unchanged team from the 3-0 win against Aston Villa for the meeting at Leigh Sports Village, which included the return of Deanne Rose on the bench, following her time on the sidelines with injury. Still 10th in the standings with 12 points, here are the main talking points from what turned out to be a frustrating loss against Man Utd.
Malard shines for Man Utd
Melvine Malard opened the scoring at Leigh Sports Village.
Against a side in red hot form, the Foxes put in a valiant effort, and defended with resilience, but Malard's pacey breakthrough on 19 minutes put Marc Skinner's side in front.
Causing problems with her speed against a high defence line from Leicester, the goalscorer turned provider just before the break when she played a clever ball through for Galton to double the host's advantage.
An unfortunate time to concede a second, this eventually decided matters as City fell to consecutive defeats against the Red Devils, and now look ahead to Wednesday's clash with league leaders Chelsea (7:30pm GMT kick-off).
Momiki Makes A Difference
An improved second half performance from the Foxes.
Only fit enough to make the bench, after representing and scoring for Japan in the SheBelieves Cup midweek, Yuka Momiki was introduced at half-time, and made an impressive impact in the attacking midfield position. Linking the defence and attack well with her quick feet and smart decision making, all of Leicester's best chances in the game came through the No.29.
Although failing to get back from a two-goal deficit, Miquel will be much more impressed with the second half performance.
Six points clear
City remain 10th in the WSL.
Not the result that the Foxes will have wanted, Miquel's side do remain six points clear of bottom-placed Crystal Palace and one game closer to survival in the top flight.
There's still plenty of football left to play, and points that need to be picked up before the Foxes can relax, but a much more spirited performance in the second half will give Leicester fans plenty to reflect on, as a couple of important home games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur, after Chelsea midweek, hone into view.
