Janice Cayman reacts to a WSL win against Aston Villa
The captain scored twice in the outing at King Power Stadium
Leicester sit 10th in the league and six points above the relegation zone
Scoring twice on an important day in which Leicester claimed their third win of the Barclays Women’s Super League campaign, Cayman was delighted to have such an important role. Commending the work from her team-mates, the Belgian international spoke about the performance and the feeling she had on the pitch with both goals.
“Today, everything was perfect for us, and we really went for it,” the midfielder announced. “That translates with the 3-0 victory.
“When the ball was coming over, I thought I just needed to hit it first time and when it left my foot, I thought it was going in.
“I was happy to score the second goal because I thought it was important at the time – and it was a good one.
“It was funny to see Missy's [Goodwin] face afterwards, and she was shocked. She said she’s never witnessed a goal like that so I’m just very happy to score and see her face.” Creating some breathing space for us in the top flight ahead of bottom spot, the Foxes now jet off around the world for international duty, but the 36-year-old is convinced the team will return a week later with the same confidence as Sunday evening.
“It was super important to win today,” Cayman continued. “We were on it from minute one and when the team is together, you make a good performance, so it was a perfect day.
“We tend to have a good performance right before a break but we’re all professional enough to keep working hard and go after it again when we’re back.”
