Defeat to Newcastle United last weekend was our third consecutive reverse across all competitions, slipping to seventh in the Barclays WSL2 standings and losing our opening Subway Players Cup fixture.
Aiming to get back on the winning trail, having started the campaign with back-to-back successes, another trip to the North East awaits, facing the second-place Black Cats at Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground (2pm kick-off).
“It’s very important to bounce back,” the Finnish international commented this week. “That’s our focus. A game consists of a lot of moments and split decisions, and I think that’s what we have to focus on, being present in each moment, keep working on that and get to know each other on and off the pitch.

“We’re all part of it in our roles. We had a good start and we need to keep building. The results are what matter, that’s what we’re looking at, but also finding the pieces that make the results. If we lose, we’re not happy, it’s as simple as that.
“There’s a lot of things. We’ve talked about the tactics and what we want to do, but I think in football it comes down to the players on the pitch.
“Working hard, winning duels and those small things, you come a long way just winning that first tackle and being proactive in the game, trying to read the next action. That’s an important part of it.”
The target for this season is clear, with Nyström setting her sights on helping fire City towards making an immediate return to WSL1.
Adapting to English football quickly, having scored on her home debut after arriving from BK Häcken, she believes the league suits her game and will enable the forward to be an effective outlet for Rick Passmoor’s side.

The 26-year-old continued: “Leicester is in an interesting position. We of course want to win and keep winning. Football is about winning. We want to go up, get promoted.
“I think Leicester should be in the highest league in the WSL. That’s what we’re aiming for, but it’s easy to say it, we also have to do it and put in the work and enjoy the process as well.
“Obviously, I want to work hard, do my best and play my part. From my experience, it’s very physical football in England and in the WSL2 even more.
“I think that fits my style of play as well. I get to apply my strengths. As a footballer, you want to play. That’s when you enjoy it the most. I love competing and playing.”
