Leicester City take on Manchester United in the Emirates FA Cup on Friday (8pm GMT kick-off)
Wilfred Ndidi could be available for the fourth round tie at Old Trafford
Ruud van Nistelrooy has also suggested youngsters Jeremy Monga and Jake Evans will travel
That duo have impressed for our U21s Development Squad this season
Ruud van Nistelrooy returns to Old Trafford for the first time as Leicester City Manager this week and the Dutchman is hopeful that Ndidi will be among his options for the tie. The Nigeria international has been absent since 8 December but has trained in Seagrave over the past fortnight and is close to making his return to the XI.
“Wilf is fine,” van Nistelrooy told reporters on Thursday morning. “He had a great week of training, last week and this week. He’ll be part of the squad tomorrow.
“There’s a couple [of players] with some light injuries. They will be assessed today if they can travel or not. There’s two or three with light injuries who are doubtful tomorrow. We’ll see when we announce the squad.”
Although the Manager is awaiting updates on a few players, the former Man Utd and Real Madrid striker did confirm that players from our Academy will travel.
Attacking-midfielder Jeremy Monga, 15, and striker Jake Evans, 16, are expected to be among the group which arrives at Old Trafford on Friday to take on the 13-time FA Cup winners.
“It’s something, an occasion, where these things can also happen, opportunities for young players,” van Nistelrooy added. “This club is a great pathway for young talents to get first team training and first team football in the Premier League at that age. There’s not many clubs who can offer that.”
