Thirteen games played, ten of which coming in the Barclays Women's Super League, has led to the Foxes sitting just above the relegation zone with six points collected.
A challenging introduction to English football for Amandine Miquel, the former Stade de Reims manager has been dealt an unfortunate card with injuries but heads into the break on good form, most recently drawing 1-1 with the past four time champions of the WSL, Chelsea. A new era begins in Leicestershire
Amandine Miquel takes charge of the Foxes.
Ahead of a fourth consecutive season in the top flight, the Club appointed Miquel, who had spent the previous seven years in charge of Stade de Reims, guiding them to a fourth-placed finish in her last term.
Joining the Foxes, she immediately flew out to Australia to take part in the Perth International Football Cup, finishing in third place by beating West Ham United 5-2, after a penalty shootout defeat to Manchester City in the game prior.
Full of high spirits and anticipation for the new season, Leicester headed to Liverpool on the opening day and came away with a positive point on the road, after last year's top scorer Jutta Rantala cancelled out Sophie Haug's strike on the brink of half-time. Injuries hit the squad
Jutta Rantala & Noémie Mouchon are both sidelined with long-term injuries.
Following up a draw on Merseyside, losses to Arsenal and Crystal Palace ensued, with a draw to Bristol City in the Women's League Cup in between, in which Shana Chossenotte notched her first goal for the Club. The month of October, however, would come to haunt Leicester in more ways than one, as the injury list would start to increase, notably the absence of Rantala, who is out until at least the New Year with a knee injury, while City's new No.10 - Noémie Mouchon - had suffered an ACL injury, ruling her out for the rest of 2024/25. The results kept coming for a short while as a stalemate at Aston Villa, in which Sari Kees and Sophie Howard displayed their impressive centre-back connection, was followed up by a first win of the season, against Everton at King Power Stadium. Yuka Momiki netted the only goal to add three valuable points to the standings. A 1-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion at Broadfield Stadium included an unfortunate sight of Sam Tierney, who had played in every Leicester game last term, being stretchered off in the second half, before City fell to losses against West Ham United and Manchester United in mid-November. With five First Team players on the sideline, and without a recognised striker available, City were attempting different philosophies in the forward areas, which included the likes of Janice Cayman, Ruby Mace and more recently Saori Takarada taking the position up top. A positive on the injury list was the long-awaited return of Wales international Hannah Cain; 330 days after her last appearance for the Foxes, and one more was soon to be available. Heading into the Christmas break on high spirits
Taking their first ever point against Chelsea.
Leicester returned to Crawley to face Brighton, once again, but this time in the League Cup and after a goalless draw after 90 minutes, won 4-3 on penalties to take the extra point. Their biggest defeat of the season followed at Joie Stadium as a brace from Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw kept her at the top of the league's goalscoring chart as Manchester City ran out 4-0 victors amid Storm Darragh. A game which saw WSL debuts for Academy players Nelly Las and Simone Sherwood. However, the Foxes' fortune in front of goal soon changed as, coming from a goal behind, they ran riot over Birmingham City in the final group stage game of the League Cup, scoring four in eight minutes to win 5-2 at Meadow Lane. Included was a first City goal for CJ Bott and Sherwood while Deanne Rose was the top provider on the night, although the three points wasn't enough to prevent the Seagulls taking top spot, bringing an end to Leicester's involvement in the competition. Chelsea at home, before a month-long break from action, isn't the first choice for any in the league, but the hosts on Filbert Way weren't going to be taken lightly and took the lead through Missy Goodwin in the first half. As the clock continued to run down, the London outfit equalised through Wieke Kaptein but even though the three points had vanished, Leicester made sure they took one, and dug in to complete a fantastic effort in front of the Foxes faithful. The first side to take anything from Chelsea in all competitions this season, that well-earned point takes City's tally up to six, where the squad can now rest and recover ahead of their return in 2025, when they start the New Year with an Adobe Women's FA Cup Fourth Round fixture against Stoke City on Sunday 12 January (1pm GMT kick-off).
