  • We entertain Portsmouth at King Power Stadium on Saturday evening (7:45pm kick-off)
  • Ricardo Pereira gave his thoughts to CITY Matchday Magazine earlier this week
  • Our captain hopes we can keep momentum rolling after the success at Swansea City
  • You can read his interview, plus much more, inside our official programme, available on matchday
We welcome Pompey to LE2 for a 7:45pm kick-off and our matchday programme will return, offering insight into the Foxes camp, a look at John Mousinho’s visitors, and features from our history.
Speaking earlier this week, Ricardo took stock on the campaign so far, turning 32 during the international break, that win at Swansea and being made captain.
On his selection as our skipper for 25/26, the Portuguese full-back said: “It’s really good. It doesn’t change a lot for me in terms of my day to day but it’s important for him to put his confidence in me and I accept that extra responsibility with joy and pride.
“As I say, it doesn’t change a lot, I’m just another player trying to help. Every one of us needs to have the responsibility of being captain in a way by putting the interest of the team in front of our own. We’re all here with the same objective. If the team succeeds then all of us succeed.”
Ricardo was one of the players to remain in Seagrave during the past fortnight, laying plans for Portsmouth, and he’s hoping to keep momentum rolling.

“It has been good this week and the week before,” the former FC Porto man added. “During the international break, we have worked well having more time to focus on small things without games, even though we didn’t have every player.
“It was important for us to keep working on things that we didn’t do as well as we would like to make sure we keep improving for a big game back at King Power Stadium. Hopefully we can keep this momentum and get another win.”
Although we’re unbeaten at King Power Stadium this term, you do have to go back to August for our last win on home soil, that victory over Birmingham City.
Building a connection with the Blue Army is among the priorities for Ricardo, who wants to send them home happy from Saturday’s late kick-off.
“They have been supporting us since the beginning,” he explained. “Like I said before the season, we need to rebuild that connection.
“It’s important for us to keep doing our work to show that we are doing our best. There’s nothing better than getting wins to create a good atmosphere and a nice feeling when everybody goes home happy after the game.”
