Russell Martin speaks after our 4-0 victory at Bromley on Tuesday
Our Manager saw further improvements in the performance
Will Alves, John Lundstram, Luke Thomas and Emil Riis all scored
It’s now two successive wins for the Foxes in Sky Bet League One
The Foxes, buoyed by beating Doncaster Rovers over the weekend, made it back-to-back league successes for the first time this season by seeing off Andy Woodman’s side in emphatic fashion at Copperjax Communtiy Stadium. Backed by a sold out away end in south east London, the travelling Blue Army were rewarded with an impressive display that lifts Leicester up to 10th in Sky Bet League One prior to Saturday’s match at Luton Town.
“I’m really proud of the players and really delighted for the fans who travelled,” he told us post-match. “[There was] so much good stuff. I’m really happy with the clean sheet more than anything else.
“The way we started the game, I think we’ve grown again after the weekend, which was what we asked from the players, to show how much we can grow and improve.
“Back-to-back wins is really important for the energy of the whole Club; for the players, for the staff, for the fans. We can hopefully build some momentum from that. There were some really top performances.
“We have to back it up again. We did a really good job tonight and now we have to recover really well and put it in a performance that we are happy with and try and win the game on Saturday.”
Will Alves broke the deadlock just four minutes in, quickly followed by John Lundstram’s second goal in as many games. Luke Thomas scored on the stroke of half-time to put us in complete control before Emil Riis completed the rout, but Martin felt it could have been more on the night.

He continued: “We’re probably frustrated we didn’t score a couple more goals, but it’s my job to be really demanding of the behaviours of the players and keep helping them to grow as much as possible.
“I said that to them after, but [it was] a really professional, aggressive performance in the way we hunted the ball back, moved the ball and I’m really proud of them.
“We found a balance tonight of being really aggressive but really calm. We’re playing against a good team with a good record at home so it’s not an easy place to come but we started the game with good intensity and aggression and then made it really difficult for them.
“We stuck at that. Maybe for five minutes of the first half we got a bit sloppy with the ball and a bit slow, but after that they were fantastic.”
Sammy Braybrooke’s performance in the middle of our midfield deserved a mention after the Academy graduate registered three assists, with Martin now wanting the 22-year-old to add goals to his game.
“Amazing, but my only disappointment for Sammy is that he doesn’t score when he should tonight, but that’s the next part of his game,” our Manager explained. “The decisions he made and the final execution of pass and cross was top.
“I’m really proud of Sammy, he is a really outstanding young man and footballer. He’s played a lot of minutes already for us and he’s growing into it, as are Will Alves and Louis Page.
“We had four of them (Academy graduates) on the pitch tonight – Louis, Luke, Will and Sammy. They’ve been brilliant and they have to keep going and growing with the team.
“We’re going to keep pushing them as much as possible, but it’s really exciting for us. I think they are starting to believe that they can play for the Club that they have spent a long time at and really belong here.”
