Just three days on from a 2-1 triumph over Doncaster Rovers at King Power Stadium, we headed to the capital determined to build on that success and gather further momentum in the league.
First-half goals from Will Alves, John Lundstram and Luke Thomas put us firmly in control, before Emil Riis added a fourth after the break to lift us to 10th in the early standings. Next up is a trip to Luton Town on Saturday, when we'll be looking to make it three wins in succession.
A busy start
Will Alves
Russell Martin’s men wasted little time asserting themselves at Copperjax Community Stadium, with Sammy Braybrooke providing the first of his three assists on an impressive individual evening.
A perfectly-weighted pass from the midfielder released Alves, who raced clear and finished confidently beyond Grant Smith, sparking celebrations among the 825 travelling Foxes fans in a sold-out away end.
There was no let-up from City, either, as we continued to press forward in search of more goals, responding to Martin’s pre-match call to build on the Doncaster victory and establish some much-needed momentum.
The scoring continues
John Lundstram
Just 12 minutes after the opener, attention turned to Thomas’ appeals for a penalty inside the area, but Lundstram had other ideas, taking matters into his own hands by driving the ball into the bottom corner, via a deflection.
It was the experienced midfielder’s second goal in as many games and his third since making the deadline-day switch to Leicester. The chances kept coming, too, with Smith regularly called into action as Kamari Doyle, Thomas, Alves and Braybrooke all tested the Bromley goalkeeper.
Another driving run from Braybrooke eventually unlocked the Ravens defence for a third time. Bursting down the right, he delivered a cross for Thomas to register his first goal of the season with a first-time finish, just seconds before the interval.
Riis adds a fourth
Emil Riis
Bromley tightened things up after the restart, but there was still time for City to add further gloss to the scoreline, with Braybrooke once again the architect. The midfielder threaded another inviting pass into the path of Riis, who raced onto it and dispatched a composed finish into the corner for his fifth goal since swapping Bristol for Leicester.
A triple substitution midway through the second half also provided an opportunity for Will Smallbone to make his City debut, stepping off the bench and making a first impression in blue.
Ultimately, it was an impressive outing for the Foxes, who now turn their attention to Saturday’s visit to Luton. With consecutive victories secured and confidence growing, the focus will be on maintaining that momentum and continuing our climb up the League One table.
