Away from action for the best part of a month, City return to the field for the first time since a dramatic and crucial point against Chelsea at King Power Stadium in the Barclays Women's Super League. Switching focus to the FA Cup, in which City went all the way to the semi-finals last season, Ale is hoping that Wednesday's test against Stoke will be the start of another great campaign in the competition. "We went into the Christmas break with a positive point against Chelsea so if we can carry that on, I think it will be good," the defender explained. "It’s good to start it off with a FA Cup game because we can really practice our in-possession and try to score goals and show a lot of positive play that hopefully the fans can see as it is at home as well.
Focused on the challenge ahead.
"We had a great FA Cup run last year, getting into the semi-finals. It would be great for morale to know we could do it again and I think it also gives opportunities for other players in the team to have some minutes against teams just so we can get everyone’s confidence up and take into the league hopefully.
"I think it’s been quite positive going forward and hopefully it continues in the next part of the season."
Not getting as many minutes as she would've liked in the earlier parts of the season, the former Tottenham Hotspur full-back has been working hard behind the scenes to make sure she was ready when the time came.
Playing her part in a defensively organised draw against the reigning WSL champions, Ale stated that she is learning a lot from the experienced players within the team, and hopes that she continues to be provided with chances to prove herself in 2025.
Playing her part in a 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
"There is a lot of competition," the No.12 admitted. "We have a lot of full-backs, or we have a lot of people who can play full-back as well, but it’s only going to better me.
"I can only work on myself and work harder in training sessions and make the most out of it when I do get the minutes on the pitch.
"It’s just great to be around such experienced players and just learn a lot from them in training and games. Hopefully, I can do the same for some younger ones coming up like Nelly Las.
"I've really worked hard and eventually got some opportunities near the end (of the year). I got a few starts and I think I did well in them to be fair so just getting my confidence up too and showing the fans and the Manager what I can do and how I can help the team."
