A first-half goal from Amanda Nildén was enough to see the home side claim all three points in the capital, leaving us in 11th place following matchday 11 of the campaign, as Amandine Miquel'steam were made to pay for missed opportunities at Brisbane Road.
The Manager made two enforced switches from the side which beat Stoke City in the Adobe Women's FA Cup in midweek, with Hannah Cain and Sari Kees dropping out due to injury, the latter just before kick-off, replaced by Academy graduate Nelly Las, who was handed her maiden WSL start fresh from scoring her first senior goal on Wednesday, and Julie Thibaud.
We couldn't find a way through a resolute Spurs backline.
It was a less than ideal start for the Foxes, however, as we fell behind inside four minutes. Maite Oroz showed quick feet to get past two City defenders before finding Nildén, who slipped the ball beneath Janina Leitzig from a tight angle on the left.
Our own attacking intent came largely from the feet of Missy Goodwin in the opening stages but when she flashed a ball across the box, there was no one in the middle to capitalise. There was further promise from a move down the right, which fell for Ruby Mace to strike from the edge of the box, seeing her left-footed attempt land wide via a deflection.
The best opportunity of the half fell to captain Janice Cayman, though, who missed the target inside the six-yard box, with the goal at her mercy, after Saori Takarada unselfishly squared the ball across. It was a big let off for the hosts and Robert Vilahamn's side remained ahead at the interval, only after a long-range effort from England internationalMace was dealt with by Lize Kop, on her Tottenham debut, just days after leaving the Foxes.
City's No.3 came off the bench in the second half but was unable to force an equaliser.
It was the Lilywhites who made the first move after the break, bringing on Martha Thomas in attack and the forward almost made an instant impact, forcing Leitzig into a diving save - the closest either side came to changing the scoreboard early in the second period.
There was also movement from the Leicester bench, Sam Tierney and Shannon O'Brien the duo introduced, and quickly combined to set up a chance for Goodwin, who could only find the arms of Kop. From there on in, Tottenham managed to stem the flow of attacks, limiting City to half-chances and second balls, able to see the game out despite our best efforts to create.
It could have even been two late on, when Bethany England's strike crashed against the bar before coming down right on the goal line, but the points headed Tottenham's way in any case. Remaining on six points, we now turn attention to next Sunday's battle with Liverpool, a 3pm kick-off at King Power Stadium.
