Previous encounters

City completed a league double over the Baggies in 23/24, winning 2-1 both home and away, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Harry Winks, Wilfred Ndidi and Jamie Vardy all on the scoresheet. That followed a pair of Premier League victories in 20/21, including a 3-0 success at The Hawthorns when Timothy Castagne marked his debut with a goal and Vardy struck twice from the penalty spot.

Leicester’s last defeat to West Brom in league competition came back in 16/17, while City also enjoyed a memorable 4-1 win at The Hawthorns in 2018, with Vardy, Riyad Mahrez, Kelechi Iheanacho and Vicente Iborra on target.

Landmark moments

The two clubs have shared many striking moments across more than a century of meetings. The 19 goals scored in their two old First Division fixtures in 1954/55 remains a seasonal record aggregate for the Foxes, with Leicester winning 6-3 at Filbert Street before Albion triumphed 6-4 at The Hawthorns.

The last hat-trick by a Leicester player against West Brom came in March 2008, when Steve Howard netted three times in an away Championship fixture. For the Baggies, Bobby Robson’s treble in April 1958 is their most recent hat-trick in this match. Jamie Vardy also scored twice from the penalty spot in September 2020, the last successful spot-kicks for Leicester in this fixture.

There have been plenty of links between the two clubs. Jonny Evans, Marc Albrighton, Harvey Barnes, Curtis Davies and Chris Wood are among the modern names to have worn both shirts, while Ally Brown, Nicky Cross and Des Lyttle are other past players with ties to each side.

Jamie Vardy leads the way for Leicester against West Brom with eight goals in this fixture, including braces in both 2018 and 2020. Legendary Albion striker Jeff Astle is the Baggies’ joint-top scorer versus City, also netting eight times. Nicky Cross and Steve Lynex, meanwhile, uniquely scored for both clubs in meetings between the two.
