There was good and bad news on the injury front ahead of facing Wolverhampton Wanderers this Saturday
Stephy Mavididi is out of the trip to Molineux through injury, Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed
Kasey McAteer could come back into the squad however after missing the defeat to Liverpool, he added
The winger was withdrawn late on in the defeat to Liverpool on Easter Sunday and will be unavailable for the next Premier League trip to face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, a 3pm kick-off on Saturday. With five games to play, his participation in the rest of the campaign is in doubt, too, as his condition continues to be assessed.
City’s Manager explained: “Stephy Mavididi came off with a muscle injury, so he won’t be part of Saturday’s game and probably not for the coming weeks.
“That’s a blow because he’s been playing really well. It’s doubtful [that he will play again this season].”
One possible replacement for the absent attacker is Academy graduate Kasey McAteer, who missed the Liverpool reverse having started at Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this month. Now back on the grass in Seagrave, the 21-year-old could be included in the squad heading to the West Midlands.
The Dutchman continued: “Kasey McAteer, on the other hand, has come back into team training and hopefully can make it for Saturday’s game.”
