LCFC Women were eliminated from the Adobe Women's FA Cup on Sunday
Tottenham Hotspur progress after a 3-0 win at Brisbane Road
Manager Rick Passmoor shared his thoughts on the frustrating result
It was another tough trip to the capital for Passmoor and his side, who were knocked out of the FA Cup at the fourth round stage.
Upset to have failed to progress in the competition, the Manager understands the difficulties from the defeat, but retains belief that the squad have the qualities to turn things around when we return to King Power Stadium next weekend.
"We're disappointed and frustrated," Passmoor stated. "We were our own worst enemies in terms of the three goals. In those moments when you're under duress and challenge, you need to be reliable, which we weren't.
We lost out to Spurs in the FA Cup.
"But with the new players around us, I saw growth and I saw learning from what we've worked on this week. Despite the result, there are signs of progression, but we've got to be more consistent.
"Every individual is different, and we need to look at delivering our information. The players have to be able to deliver day in, day out. We knew it was a tough draw coming down here, but we wanted to add momentum.
"I want to see a reaction in training; we're all feeling flat after the 90 minutes but I do see positives to take in terms of the progress."
Having been on the wrong end of consecutive scorelines to Spurs in the last two weeks, Passmoor will be looking for a reaction from his team in training this coming week.
Four new players have come through the doors in recent weeks, and it will take time for this new philosophy to gel, and start to earn rewards on the pitch.
Our focus switches back to the league.
"In the first half, they got hold of the ball and moved it well," he analysed. "They then switched it to overload in midfield and then we changed it, in terms of personal and players, and you saw more of what I want us to show, in terms of aggression, and chances against their backline.
"The stats will show that we had more box entries than last week, but we need to make sure we keep developing.
"The WSL is our bread and butter. Our short term aim is to maintain WSL1 status, and progress as a football club. There's a lot of work going on behind the scenes to achieve that.
"We are establishing ourselves with that strategy. We're disappointed to be out of the cup competitions, because as I said, we wanted to build momentum.
"But we'll reset; we've got a good group of players and we'll learn throughout the rest of the season."
