Mads Hermansen could be in line for a return after being involved in team training
We face Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday (3pm kick-off)
Wilfred Ndidi is progressing well and has been in partial team training
Ricardo Pereira is working on the grass with the physios
Leicester City head to Goodison Park for a 3pm kick-off against the Toffees after last weekend’s victory at Tottenham Hotspur – and may have their Danish shot-stopper back in the squad. Hermansen has been out since being substituted at half-time in Ruud van Nistelrooy’s first away match as Manager at Newcastle United on 14 December. The former Brøndby ‘keeper has missed seven Premier League matches since that outing in the North East, but is nearing a return to the XI.
“Mads was part of team training this week, so he's making progress,” van Nistelrooy told the media on Thursday. “All being well, he’s available for selection for Saturday.
“Every player that’s back can help the team. Jakub [Stolarczyk] has done an excellent job coming in. From day one at Liverpool away on Boxing Day, he’s been excellent. “He’s shown the progression he’s made into a Premier League ‘keeper. We’re very happy that we’ve developed him over these games.”
Wilfred Ndidi, meanwhile, has also been absent since 8 December and is close to being back in contention. The Nigerian has been in ‘partial’ team training with his Foxes team-mates and van Nistelrooy is hoping he can step that up over the coming weeks.
“Wilf is making good progress,” he added. “He’s partially involved in team training. This week we're looking to bring him back into full team training and over the course of next week."
Ricardo Pereira is another player awaiting a return and is outside with the physiotherapists working towards his own recovery. The Portuguese full-back has been out since 2 November but is progressing well on his own rehabilitation plan. “He is recovering,” the Manager explained. “He’s still in individual training with the physios. He’s moved outside to do that part of rehab on the grass with physios. His rehab is going according to plan.”
