James Justin is a 'question mark' for Friday's clash with Brentford
The full-back had to be withdrawn before half-time against Arsenal
Ricardo Pereira is continuing his recovery from a long-term injury
Justin had to be replaced before half-time in last Saturday’s 2-0 reverse to Arsenal at King Power Stadium and Ricardo has been absent since early November. We welcome Brentford to LE2 for an 8pm kick-off in the Premier League on Friday, with the chance to climb out of the bottom three with a victory.
“JJ is a question mark for [Friday’s] game,” Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy told the media on Wednesday. “He hasn’t been able to be a part of team training, so it will be difficult to make Friday’s game. It’s not really bad. He’s been assessed and looked after. It looks more a question of weeks than [anything] more.
There could be a full debut for Coulibaly on Friday.
“Other than that, Ricardo Pereira is making good progress in his comeback. He’s part of team training. Hopefully in the coming weeks that can be more and he can be part of games as well."
New signing Woyo Coulibaly made his home debut from the bench last weekend and impressed many. The Frenchman could be in line to feature from the start on Friday. “That’s the good news,” van Nistelrooy added. “It was very necessary to get a right-back in the window. James is the only right-back in the squad with Ricardo being injured. It’s good we have him. He made a good impression against Arsenal when he came on as well.
“Everybody’s in line for a start. Of course, he’s the second right-back. He came in when JJ came off. We’ll see how the rest of the week goes and the team is picked later on.”
