The Leicester City captain earned a 99th cap for his country in Belfast, playing 90 minutes as the hosts came from a goal down to secure a first win in their Nations League campaign.

After a goalless first half, Vedat Muriqi stunned Windsor Park with his 58th minute strike, while Evans had a header cleared off the line five minutes later.

The hosts equalised with eight minutes to go courtesy of Gavin Whyte, and then Josh Magennis scored the winner in the last minute of normal time.

Remaining third in League C Group 2 ahead of Cyprus versus Greece, the Green & White Army are on five points from five games prior to facing Greece in Athens on Tuesday (7:45pm kick-off).

Papy Mendy came off the bench to help Senegal beat Bolivia.

Elsewhere, Papy Mendy came on as a 64th-minute substitute for Senegal in their 2-0 international friendly triumph over Bolivia at Stade de la Source.

Boulaye Dia and Sadio Mané netted during the first half, with Foxes midfielder Mendy introduced for Pathé Ciss to see out the win in France.

Iran are the CAF Africa Cup of Nations champions' next friendly opponents in three days' time, playing at BSFZ-Arena in Austria (3:30pm kick-off).

England's Under-19s confirmed their place in the elite round of UEFA European Under-19 qualification earlier in the afternoon with a 6-0 win over Georgia Under-19s at Hjørring Stadion.

Sammy Braybrooke captained the side and assisted the first goal for Sonny Perkins with a first-time delivery which was turned in off the post by the Leeds United forward.

City centre-back Ben Nelson, currently on loan at Rochdale, also started, playing the first 66 minutes, while young Foxes forward Kian Pennant came on for Perkins after 56 minutes.

Simon Rusk's side are top of Group I on goal difference, level on six points with Denmark Under-19s, ahead of tackling the Danes in their final fixture at Hobro Stadium next Tuesday (1pm kick-off).

The Young Lions need to avoid defeat to ensure they finished first in the pool, though both sides are already assured of a place in the next round, which kicks off next spring, with the finals in Malta in July 2023.
