City were stretched to a penalty shootout on Sunday evening in Burton, where they were defeated by Reading after visiting ‘keeper Grace Moloney made three spot-kick saves.

Sam Tierney and Hannah Cain found the net at Pirelli Stadium as the scores were left at 2-2 after 120 minutes but Leicester were ultimately eliminated from the FA Cup in the fourth round.

Despite failing to convert enough chances to settle the game in normal time, Bott was proud of her team’s performance, and confirms they will learn from the defeat.

We’ll take our learnings from this game, but absolutely, our focus is on the league, so we're moving on to that.

“It's a tough pill to swallow, but we’re happy with the performance,” the defender told LCFC TV. “There are things to still work on, but compared to a few months back, we've made leaps and bounds.

“There's room for improvement, but we're taking the wins that we can, and we are happy but still devastated at the same time.

“I think the pitch made it tough to play on as well. I'm sure [when we play them in the league] we'll show up and utilise King Power Stadium and we'll show them our potential next time.”

In a game of rued opportunities, the No.4 explained how they’ll keep working on their game and look forward to returning to Barclays Women’s Super League action for the visit of Man City on Saturday (11:30am kick-off).

“We had many chances,” she continued. “Missy [Goodwin] with that header on goal, and there were a few for Ava [Baker] as well. So, any other day, we would have sunk those, and we'd be through, so it was unlucky.

“We’ll take our learnings from this game, but absolutely, our focus is on the league, so we're moving on to that.”
