The Foxes welcome Pep Guardiola’s runaway Premier League leaders to King Power Stadium on Tuesday after defeating Sheffield United, Liverpool and Leeds United so far.

As three-time winners of the competition, Chilwell is well aware of the fondness the Blue Army have for the EFL Cup and he hopes to add more memories for them to savour this time around.

“Obviously the League Cup is a big competition and everybody at the Club knows how big a thing it will be to potentially do well in it,” the left back told LCFC TV on Monday morning.

“Nobody is under any illusions about how tough Manchester City is going to be. They are in the form of their lives, they haven’t really lost any games this season.

“We know how difficult the task is going to be but we’re always confident at home and we think we can beat them. If we do, of course we’ll be one step closer to Wembley.”

Following on from a frustrating reverse to Crystal Palace on Saturday, Chilwell added that City are keen to make amends for that result as quickly as possible.

We know, on our day, at King Power Stadium, when we’re raring to go, with the fans behind us, that anything is possible.

“After a loss like that, we don’t want to wait too long,” he said. “We don’t want to ponder on it. To be able to get out on the pitch quickly and put things right is massive.

“There’s no better match than at home against Man City.”

Before Saturday, Claude Puel’s Foxes had enjoyed a four-game winning run which propelled them to eighth in the Premier League standings.

“We are still confident,” the 20-year-old continued. “Palace was just a blip, the four matches before that were more us and it’s massive for the Club, especially over a busy period.

“Tuesday is a chance to put a good performance in and generate some positivity. It was last season when we beat them at home.
