- The right back is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained last month
- Wes Morgan is also progressing well in training and is regaining his fitness in the gym
- Fellow defender Robert Huth completed 90 minutes for the Development Squad this week

The 31-year-old suffered a hamstring injury during the 2-2 draw with Manchester United and, ahead of the visit of Watford to King Power Stadium on Saturday, is back in training this week.

Simpson made his first training session with the team,” Puel told the media. “He is playing in little games this morning, I don’t know if he is match fit for this game.”

Meanwhile, captain Wes Morgan, 33, sustained a similar injury in a 3-0 success over Huddersfield Town on New Year’s Day, but us progressing well at Belvoir Drive.

The Frenchman added: “For Morgan, he continues to make good progress. We will see.”

Midfielder Adrien Silva, who played in both fixtures against Fleetwood Town in the Emirates FA Cup, has been regaining his match fitness after a six-month hiatus from senior action.

“It was important for him to have game time after six months without playing,” Puel continued. “It was good that he played with the Under-23s and two games in the Cup.

“It was a baptism of fire in English football and he is improving. We will see for the next game.

“It’s always a good thing to have good players in midfield. I hope this competition will give a good feeling to all the players to continue their hard work on the training pitches.”

Robert Huth, on the other hand, played for 90 minutes for the Club’s Development Squad during a 4-2 defeat by Oldham Athletic in the Checkatrade Trophy on Wednesday night.
