The former Birmingham City man played over an hour at Burnley on Saturday and could make his 40th appearance of the season in Leicester City colours when Southampton visit King Power Stadium on Thursday evening.

Naturally, the driven winger is hoping for more involvement with the Foxes and has vowed to give his all in City’s five remaining Premier League fixtures.

“I’ve been in and out quite a bit and there’s been a lot of squad rotation, so it’s always nice to play when I do and I try and do what I can do best,” Gray told LCFC TV.

“It didn’t pay off on the weekend with the result, but it’s always positive for me when I’m on the pitch.”

Last month, Gray captained and scored for England's Under-21s – a positive experience that he hopes to build on back in Leicester.

He continued: “Every time I go away with the national team, it’s good for my development at all times. I feel myself developing even more.

It’s all good for my confidence, it was the first time I’ve had the captain’s armband, so it was good for me to take that on and learn and develop to be a leader.

“It was nice to get a goal to bring the confidence and form back into my club football. Each time I go away with the England boys, it’s good for my confidence and it’s a different style of football, so I’m always learning.

“It was a massive honour [to be captain], something I was very proud of and very grateful to do.
