Over the past five days, the Foxes have worked tirelessly underneath the shadow of the French Alps to ready themselves for the start of the 2018/19 season.

Left back Chilwell, 21, believes City’s intense sessions have paid dividends heading into the third week of pre-season.

“It’s been tough,” reflected Chilwell. “Obviously, the heat has played a massive part in it. It’s been good being away with the boys and it’s an amazing place.

We’re training, getting two or three sessions a day and we’re working hard. We’re getting fitter and stronger.

“Where we’ve been staying is great and there’s great facilities at the training ground – the pitch is amazing.

Chilwell impressed in Thursday’s 12-kilometre bike ride from Morzine to Avoriaz – one of the most difficult challenges he says he has ever faced.

“I think most of the lads’ muscles are still feeling that bike ride,” he added. “If you ask any of us, it’s probably one of the hardest things we’ve ever done, both mentally and physically.

“The boss wanted to challenge us physically and mentally to see where we’re at and it was good that the staff got involved because no one wants to lose to the staff – we’re a competitive bunch!

“That pushed us a bit harder and it ended up being a really good day. The views at the top were worth it and we’ll definitely feel the benefits from it.”
