Harry Maguire and Jamie Vardy's England lost 2-0 to Belgium in the 2018 FIFA World Cup third-place play-off on Saturday afternoon.

An memorable World Cup campaign came to an end for England on Saturday, as Thomas Meunier's fourth minute strike and Eden Hazard's 82nd minute finish secured Belgium's victory at Krestovsky Stadium.

Maguire started the match and saw a headed effort saved by Thibaut Courtois after 20 minutes and then made an excellent block at the other end to deny Kevin De Bruyne on the verge of half-time.

City striker Vardy was an unused substitute in Saint Petersburg.

The result means that the Three Lions finish the tournament in fourth place and complete their joint-best campaign on foreign soil. 

Gareth Southgate's side return to action against Spain in the UEFA Nations League on Saturday 8 September at Wembley, before taking on Switzerland at Leicester City's King Power Stadium three days later.
