Leicester City are looking to build upon the momentum of their dramatic 2-1 win at Southampton when Fleetwood Town visit King Power Stadium in the Carabao Cup, says Shinji Okazaki.

The Foxes emerged from St Mary’s Stadium with three points in the Premier League on Saturday as Demarai Gray and Harry Maguire, in the second minute of added time, found the net.

With a Second Round tie against Sky Bet League 1 side Fleetwood up next in the Carabao Cup, Okazaki is hoping City can continue that winning feeling in another competition.

“We hope that we can carry on into the next game against Fleetwood Town,” he told LCFC TV.

“Fleetwood has a good motivation and it’s a good team. We saw our spirit at Southampton and we have to win. I had an injury in the World Cup but I’m recharged now.

“The draw was very popular in this team because Jamie [Vardy] played for Fleetwood and last season, they were not too easy, so it will be a hard game.

“We have to be together, play together, and we have to win on Tuesday.”

Leicester tackled Fleetwood twice in the Emirates FA Cup last term – needing a replay at Filbert Way to secure their place in the Fourth Round.

Okazaki made a cameo appearance for the Foxes at Southampton.

As a result, Okazaki says City are well aware of how difficult Tuesday night’s fixture could be, but the Japan striker is also confident of succeeding against Joey Barton’s men.

He added: “It will be a different kind of game, for us we need to show the same things. We keep improving and we are together, so we want to show the same again, the same in every game.

“We know we have a chance in the cup competitions so we have to restart against Fleetwood.”
