The Sky Bet League 1 side will arrive at King Power Stadium on Tuesday with eight points from their opening five fixtures – and Puel knows it will be a tough test for his side.

Ahead of the Second Round tie, Puel says he will inspect the condition of several players alongside his medical team before settling on a final starting line-up to tackle Joey Barton’s side.

Discussing the chances of first team debuts for Filip Benković and Çağlar Söyüncü, Puel said: “I don’t know at the moment, I want to see who is available and we will then take a decision.

It’s great to see [Okazaki] again on the pitch because it has been a long time and he has worked hard in training to get his fitness back.

“We will see on the pitch when the game begins on Tuesday night.”

Puel has said in the past that Söyüncü may be utilised in Development Squad fixtures to regain full fitness, while Benković has already appeared on two occasions for the Under-23s.

Shinji Okazaki, meanwhile, was an 88th-minute substitute for City during Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Southampton, but Puel revealed that he will take no risks with the Japan striker’s fitness.

Okazaki made a cameo appearance for the Foxes at Southampton.

The Frenchman added: “He had an injury after the World Cup and he has difficulties with his ankle, but he is coming back step-by-step.

“It’s great to see him again on the pitch because it has been a long time and he has worked hard in training to get his fitness back.”

Forward Jamie Vardy, on the other hand, will be suspended for the fixture against his former club.
