Leicester City Academy graduate Ben Chilwell played a crucial role for England against Croatia as a number of Foxes featured for their countries this weekend.

- Ben Chilwell assisted Harry Kane's winning goal for England against Croatia
- The Three Lions booked their spot in next year's UEFA Nations League Finals
- Jonny Evans' Northern Ireland lost 2-1 to Austria in the Nations League
- Kelechi Iheanacho and Çağlar Söyüncü also made appearances on Saturday

Chilwell, 21, helped England come from behind to beat Croatia and progress in the UEFA Nations League on Sunday.

Earning his fifth senior cap for the Three Lions, the left-back provided the assist for Harry Kane’s late winning goal.

Croatia had led through former Foxes striker Andrej Kramarić’s well-taken second-half effort before Jesse Lingard, who spent two months on loan at Leicester City in 2012, equalised for Gareth Southgate’s side.

With England needing a win to go ahead of Spain and top of the Group A4 table, Chilwell found Kane, another former City loanee, with a pinpoint free-kick allowing the Three Lions skipper to convert from close range.

The victory saw England advance to the inaugural tournament's finals, which will take place next summer.

Later that day, Jonny Evans played for Northern Ireland in their 2-1 defeat to Austria, as the the experienced central defender made his 76th appearance for his country.

Michael O'Neill's men looked set for their first Nations League point after Corry Evans had cancelled out Xaver Schlager's effort, but Valentino Lazaro scored in the third minute of injury time to win it for the visitors.

Jonny Evans has played 76 times for his nation.

On Saturday, Çağlar Söyüncü completed the full 90 minutes in Turkey’s 1-0 defeat to Sweden, who sealed three Nations League points thanks to Andreas Granqvist's penalty.

On the same day, Kelechi Iheanacho played just under 70 minutes in Nigeria’s 1-1 draw with South Africa in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.

Young City defender Alex Pascanu, meanwhile, was an unused substitute as Romania comfortably beat 10-man Lithuania 3-0.
