  • Heartwize are one of the VS Foundation’s nominated charities
  • Our game against Brentford on Friday will be dedicated to their cause
  • The charity has delivered life-saving training to over 60,000 people
  • Text CPR plus the amount you wish to donate to 70460 to support Heartwize
  • For example, to donate £5 text CPR 5 To 70460
A volunteer-led organisation, Heartwize was founded in 2014 by cardiologists Professor William Toff and Dr. Doug Skehan, who were determined to improve out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survival rates through practical education and widespread community engagement.
In recognition of Heartwize’s vital work, our Premier League fixture against Brentford on Friday 21 February will be dedicated to the charity. On the night, supporters will have the opportunity to donate, speak directly with Heartwize volunteers about the importance of CPR, and learn more about how this training can save lives. Look out for special matchday activities around King Power Stadium, including bucket collections, demonstrations and more.
A COMMUNITY-DRIVEN MISSION
CPR & Defibrillator Training: Heartwize has already provided essential life-saving skills to over 60,000 people, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to step in during medical emergencies.
Schools Programme: The charity’s focus on Year 10 students ensures that every participant gets hands-on practice, using personal manikins under volunteer supervision. This early introduction helps to create a new generation that’s prepared to react swiftly and effectively when every second counts.
Wider Community Engagement: Beyond schools, Heartwize work with local businesses, sports clubs and community groups, extending their message on the importance of immediate bystander CPR and rapid defibrillation.
‘CREATING A GENERATION OF LIFESAVERS’
Every year in the UK, thousands of lives are lost to sudden cardiac arrest. By teaching people how to recognise and respond to this critical condition, Heartwize aspires to make Leicestershire a safer place for everyone - at school, in the workplace, and on the pitch.
Their ambition is simple yet powerful: more lives saved through increased awareness, swift action and the widespread availability of defibrillators.
Dr William Toff, Heartwize Co-Founder and Cardiologist, said: “Heartwize is all about trying to raise awareness of the problem of out of hospital cardiac arrest, and ensuring everybody in our communities recognises a cardiac arrest if they witness one and knows how to respond to give the victim the best possible chance of survival.
“Friday’s game is a fantastic opportunity that has been offered to us. The Club have been supportive of us since we were established, but the game against Brentford is a real chance for us to connect with fans, to raise the problem of out of hospital cardiac arrest, and what we’re trying to do to tackle this public health challenge.”
HOW TO SUPPORT HEARTWIZE
Donate: Whether you’re attending one of the dedicated matchdays at King Power Stadium or simply looking to support Heartwize from home, every donation goes directly towards expanding their vital CPR and defibrillator training.
