We’ll support Football v Homophobia throughout February
Our first against Manchester United Women and then Norwich City Men to be celebrated
Football v Homophobia exists to challenge discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression at all levels of the game
After hosted the Red Devils in a Barclays Women’s Super League clash on Saturday 7 February, we now face the Canaries in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday 28 February.
Like the Man Utd fixture, against Norwich, we'll celebrate Football v Homophobia, a campaign that exists to challenge discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity and expression at all levels of football.
The fixture with Norwich will see Foxes Pride - our LGBTQ+ supporter group with more than 200 members - have a presence inside the Foxes Fanstore, with an information stall giving fans an opportunity to find out more about their work alongside LCFC to tackle homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in football. Following the match, we’ll also host Foxes Pride, Leicester Wildecats and Proud Canaries for a celebration event in the Walkers Hall. The Wildecats are one of the country’s leading LGBTQ+ football clubs and have been at the forefront of inclusive sport since 1996 by working to create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone, both on and off the field.
The FvH initiative was originally conceived and launched in 2010 by The Justin Campaign, which was founded in 2008 to demonstrate that 10 years after Justin Fashanu's tragic suicide, homophobia was still hugely prevalent in both grassroots and professional football.
