Matheus Cunha opened the scoring before laying on second-half assists for Jørgen Strand Larsen and Rodrigo Gomes, as Vítor Pereira’s hosts made it six wins in a row to to climb up to 13th in the Premier League.
Remaining 19th in the table ourselves, this was a 12th game without a victory in all competitions, coming a week after our relegation from the top flight was confirmed, and two days since Jamie Vardy confirmed he will call time on his historic 13-year spell with the Club later this summer.
The 38-year-old, winner of the Premier League, FA Cup, Community Shield and two Championship titles, was denied a 199th goal on his 497th appearance as José Sá saved his 72nd-minute penalty in the West Midlands.

While we are contemplating a return to the Sky Bet Championship, Wolves headed into this on a five-game winning run under Pereira's guidance. Although the threat of relegation once hung over Molineux earlier this season, it’s a far happier place now, as they start to climb the Premier League table.
Opening goalscorer Cunha, now with seven goals in his last nine games for Wolves, was a menace from the off. First he rode Bilal El Khannouss’ challenge on the half-way line, arrowing narrowly wide after reaching the edge of the 18-yard box. Conor Coady, mind you, may have netted against his former employers early on too. His header, planted onto a fizzing El Khannouss corner, was well caught by Sá though.
Wout Faes' crucial block initially kept another Cunha hit out, his curler looking destined for the far corner. Mads Hermansen was also called upon to make a decent stop to deny the Brazilian, after he was teed up by Marshall Munetsi. But, in the blink of an eye, Rayan Aït-Nouri’s low cross flashed across the goalmouth, inviting Cunha to flick it past the Foxes stopper and give the hosts a deserved lead in the 33rd minute.

Indeed, Leicester were fortunate it was only 1-0 at the break, as Larsen also skidded wide before the whistle. Facundo Buonanotte, back in the XI, replacing the injured Stephy Mavididi, did have an opening himself, although Tote António Gomes got in the way before it could test Sá.
Larsen conspired, again, to miss the target from three yards out eight minutes into the second period, after Hermansen’s excellent parry to frustrate Cunha. Although El Khannouss saw a tidy curler fly inches wide, it was proving hard for the visitors to create clear-cut opportunities against an in-form Wolves outfit.
Three half-time changes had seen James Justin, Oliver Skipp and Kasey McAteer all enter the action, and shortly after Jordan Ayew replaced the injured Bobby De Cordova-Reid, but the home side doubled their lead 10 minutes in. Cunha’s cutting through-ball sent Larsen away and it was third-time lucky for the Norwegian, who calmly slotted it into the far bottom corner.
No route back
Jamie Vardy
A 72nd-minute penalty was a chance for us to get back into the contest. El Khannouss’ through-ball took Emmanuel Agbadou out of the equation and put Vardy in on goal. Sá came bursting off his line and bundled our iconic No.9 to the deck. It needed verifying by VAR, but before long, Vardy was stepping up from 12 yards.
On Thursday, the 38-year-old announced he’ll soon call time on his historic 13-year chapter with the Foxes. On his 497th outing for the Foxes, here was an opportunity for goal no. 199. He hit it to his left, Sá’s right, down towards the bottom corner. The Portuguese ‘keeper, however, threw himself towards the post to make a sterling save.
Before Gomes made it three, the Portuguese scuffed an earlier effort wide. Ndidi – making his 300th LCFC appearance – blocked Joao Gomes’ half-volley too. Before long, mind you, Gomes was racing onto another pin-point Cunha delivery to place it past Hermansen and get the home faithful singing of six wins in a row. Only a gutsy sliding challenge from Skipp prevented Pablo Sarabia from making it four in the dying moments as well, but the damage had already been done.
