- LCFC Women's next assignment is away to Arsenal on Friday - Willie Kirk spoke to the media in his pre-match press conference- The Manager provided an update on the squad's fitness levels - Sam Tierney will return following her one-match suspension
The Foxes carried on their winning form in style last weekend when they defeated Liverpool 4-0 at King Power Stadium, allowing them to leapfrog both Reading and Brighton & Hove Albion into 10th in the WSL. As attention turns to Arsenal, Kirk shared an update on the fitness levels of his squad during Wednesday's press conference at Belvoir Drive, and said that the squad is in a good shape, as long-term injury absentees, including Abbie McManus, Shannon O'Brien and Lachante Paul, have all been stepping up their recovery on the training pitch. And versatile midfielder Sam Tierney could go straight back into the matchday squad for the visit to face the Gunners at Meadow Park this week after missing Saturday's Liverpool victory through suspension. "Everybody should be okay for the Arsenal game at the end of the week," Kirk confirmed. "We've taken players out of sessions to allow them to recover properly, as we are in a busy schedule of fixtures at the moment.
"But everyone is doing well. Sam Tierney will be available for selection again after her suspension and that will offer us another option in midfield which we're excited to have back."
