- Boubakary Soumare previews Saturday's lunchtime visit of Crystal Palace (12:30pm BST kick-off)- The young French midfielder has highlighted the importance of Leicester City picking up positive results- He also discusses the frustrations of last weekend's loss at AFC Bournemouth
The French central midfielder, a winner of the Ligue 1 title with Lille OSC, has played in six of City's nine Premier League matches so far this term. It's not been the campaign which the Foxes were hoping for, though, with Brendan Rodgers' men sat bottom of the table with just four points. A 2-1 defeat by AFC Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium was their last outing – ahead of welcoming Crystal Palace to King Power Stadium on Saturday. For Soumaré, the time is now for Leicester to start making amends for their early-season form and start climbing the standings swiftly. "It was really, really disappointing because, going ahead 1-0, we felt that the match was in our hands," the 23-year-old said. "Maybe, through switching off a couple of times, making a couple of errors, we lost that lead and conceded two goals which really, really hurt us. It cost us dearly in terms of the match.
"Now it’s always about putting that behind us and doing everything we possibly can to put in a good performance and to try and pick up the three points against Crystal Palace. It’s going to be an important match, but so is every game in this recent period.
"It’s important we give a good account of ourselves. Leicester are in a false position. It’s important we put Leicester back to where we should be. It’s important for ourselves and for the supporters as well."
That loss on the south coach followed a 4-0 victory over rivals Nottingham Forest. Although that game didn't provide the spark needed to start a run of form, Soumaré is hopeful that City can pick up where they left off on home soil. He also pointed to the impact the Blue Army can have from the stands. "It's two-way thing," he added. "We need to play for the fans and it’s great when the fans really get behind us. The atmosphere for that Forest game was absolutely incredible. It’s a real plus when the fans are behind us like that. It gives us an extra source of energy and strength which we can feed on.
"We were all very much up after that Nottingham Forest game – the supporters, the players, everyone at the Club. We were convinced that was the catalyst to start going on a good run and putting some good victories together.
"It was so disappointing that errors cost us dearly in terms of the game in Bournemouth. We just need to be more at it, alert, attentive. You can put these errors down to everyone, not individuals, and if we can sort that out, we can start to put Leicester back in a league position that we deserve to be."
