Vardy, the 2019/20 Premier League campaign’s leading scorer, with 19 efforts to his name, is edging ever closer to the coveted 100-goal mark in England’s top tier.
His 99th, and most recent, Premier League goal came against Aston Villa in early March, while there are plenty of other significant efforts included, as recalled below.
Chelsea 0 Leicester City 1Stamford BridgeSaturday 22 December, 2018
There was added significance to Vardy’s 51st-minute winner in London in December 2018, given it was City’s first victory at Stamford Bridge since 2000, when Muzzy Izzet and Stan Collymore were on target in a 2-0 success. Vardy’s sixth Premier League goal of 2018/19 came after some fine build-up play from Ricardo Pereira and James Maddison, before the City No.9 slammed past Kepa Arrizabalaga in the Chelsea net.
Everton 0 Leicester City 1Goodison ParkTuesday 1 January, 2019
Another away win, this time at Goodison Park, came courtesy of a solitary effort from Vardy, whose somersault celebration was equally as impressive as how he tucked a low effort underneath Jordan Pickford for the only goal of the game. Once again, Ricardo was involved, cutting out a pass from Michael Keane before releasing City’s ruthless frontman.

On the day Brendan Rodgers was named City’s new permanent manager, Vardy scored his side’s second in front of the King Power Stadium faithful to secure a 2-1 victory over the Seagulls. With first team coaches Mike Stowell and Adam Sadler assuming responsibility for the senior squad, Vardy’s clinical, low strike added to Demarai Gray’s opener on Filbert Way.

Vardy’s 99th and 100th goals for the Football Club arrived in early March 2019, when two strikes in the space of nine minutes sealed a 3-1 Premier League victory over Fulham. He first beat Sergio Rico while one-on-one with 78 minutes gone, before some brilliant play from Academy graduate Harvey Barnes handed Vardy a chance to score goal no.100 in all competitions for the Club.

The striker’s superb form under Rodgers continued during a comprehensive 3-0 win over Arsenal, with Vardy on the scoresheet twice – his third brace in seven Premier League games. Vardy was quick to latch onto Kasper Schmeichel’s long pass, initially heading onto the bar before converting the rebound. He then side-footed in from six yards out after some fine work from Ricardo down the right for his second of the game, and his 100th league goal for Leicester.
Sheffield United 1 Leicester City 2Bramall LaneSaturday 24 August, 2019
Vardy’s first of the new campaign came in the city he was born, against a rival of one of his former sides. Maddison’s lovely outside-of-the-boot pass found Vardy, who smashed the ball into the top corner past Dean Henderson, before producing an iconic celebration in front of the Sheffield United supporters.
Southampton 0 Leicester City 9St. Mary’s StadiumFriday 25 October, 2019
Already 8-0 up thanks to a brace from Vardy, Ayoze Pérez’s hat-trick, and goals from Ben Chilwell, Youri Tielemans and Maddison, it was down to City’s No.9 to break the record for the biggest every away win in Premier League history – and there was no better man for the job. From the spot, he beat Angus Gunn to seal his own treble, rounding off a historic night on the south coast.
Leicester City 2 Arsenal 0King Power StadiumSaturday 9 November, 2019
During City’s run of a Club-record eight-straight Premier League triumphs came on a memorable night at King Power Stadium, where Vardy opened the scoring on 68 minutes. An excellent change of passes between Tielemans, Ricardo and Barnes eventually saw the ball fall to Vardy, who triggered ecstatic celebrations in the Leicester rain. Maddison made it 2-0 with a superb strike of his own with 15 minutes to play.
Leicester City 4 Aston Villa 0King Power StadiumMonday 9 March, 2020
Having already added to Barnes’ first-half strike with a 63rd-minute penalty, the No.9’s next action epitomised his character. His pass across goal was initially cut out, but he did not give up on the attacking move, and picked up the loose ball before firing past Pepe Reina for 3-0 – his 99th and most recent Premier League goal for the Foxes.
