Conor Coady offers his assessment of Leicester City's 4-1 loss at Brentford
Yoane Wissa levelled Facundo Buonanotte's opener before a Kevin Schade hat-trick
Coady admitted that City must be better moving forward in the Premier League
He also discussed the arrival of Ruud van Nistelrooy, who starts as Manager on Sunday
Coady made his first Premier League start of the season as Brentford were 4-1 winners over the Foxes at Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday. Facundo Bounanotte’s opener for the visitors was cancelled out by Yoane Wissa before a Kevin Schade hat-trick condemned City to defeat under the guidance of First Team Coach Ben Dawson. Van Nistelrooy will assume First Team responsibilities on Sunday and Coady, who helped Leicester win the EFL Championship title last term, is eager to get started under the Dutchman and help his side return to winning ways. “We’ve had a few meetings because it’s not good enough at the minute,” the England defender said at Brentford. “When a manager leaves a football club, you’ve got to look at yourselves individually and as a team and look at where you’re going wrong.
“At the minute, we’re going wrong. Theres’s a new manager coming in tomorrow and we’ll listen to him. He’s a fantastic manager. He’s obviously shown that in the past and we’ll make sure we learn from him as quickly as possibly can.”
On the performance, Coady made no effort to hide away from the negatives in City’s performance, stressing the importance to learn from their mistakes.
“It was a super tough afternoon,” he added. “There’s only way we can put it right. We’re giving away too many chances away as a team. As defenders, we’re giving too many chances away and we need to look at ourselves.

“We need to take responsibility for what we’re doing. We need to learn from it and look at where we’re going wrong. We need to put it right and we’ll look forward now to Tuesday because, at this moment in time, that wasn't good enough. There’s only us who can change that.”
Making an appearance in a Premier League XI for the first time in 2024/25, Coady elaborated on the ways he tries to help the squad, whatever his role.
“I keep myself ready,” the former Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back explained. “I keep myself focused and in good shape. I make sure I’m ready whenever I’m called upon. I want to play.
“I feel like I need a run of games to get up to speed, but at this moment in time, I’m here to help the lads whenever. Whether that’s on the pitch, or in the dressing room and in the training ground, no matter where it is, that’s what I’m here for.
“We need to get ourselves together. We’re not winning games. It’s as simple as that. We need to look at ourselves, take responsibility, and make it right.”
