Following fixture release day and the squad's return, anticipation is building as everything gears up towards that first match of the Sky Bet Championship campaign against Sheffield Wednesday on home soil over a month away.
And City were back on the pitch over the weekend, playing a maiden match of the summer against Peterborough United, emerging as 3-1 victors after a lively, four-goal second half.

Youngster Louis Page scored twice, alongside Silko Thomas' late stunner, which wrapped up victory for the Foxes in front of nearly 500 fans, bringing a productive first week of graft on the training pitch to an end.
Speaking post-match, Coach Andy King was pleased with the levels shown, having fielded two separate XIs in each half: “The lads were tired going into today, they had a hard week, as pre-season should be, but they’ve done everything we’ve asked of them, as they have all week.”

Sweltering temperatures greeted our squad upon their arrival in Seagrave, hitting a high of 30 degrees in north Leicestershire later on Monday afternoon. Goalkeepers Mads Hermansen and Jakub Stolarczyk were two of the first to arrive and, after breakfast catch-ups with team-mates and staff, it was quickly down to business in the summer heat.
Reporting for a series of tests, measurements and medical screenings, as is customary at this early point of the pre-season schedule, those players who had not represented their national team during the close-season were put through their paces during an intense first few days.

The testing was designed to push the lads to their limits, in order to assess strength, power and fitness. Physical tests in the gym included jump testing, bike sprints, upper body profiling and a range of specific tests to assess key muscle groups around the body.
In the treatment room, players were given a musculoskeletal screen among other tests, while the day was concluded with the SDS Maximal Running Test where the players' fitness was assessed, while competing against each other.

James Justin, one of those to report back this week, spoke about the mindset of starting afresh for the new season: “I think everyone is just resetting mentally. We’re ready to get back to work.
“It’s trying to get that togetherness building within the group and getting the intensity back in our training sessions and everything that we do around the building. That’s a big one for us in this pre-season.”
Heading out onto the grass on Tuesday morning, intensity was the word of the week, drilled into the players during coach Andy King’s pre-training huddle with the players.

Running and possession-based drills were on the agenda and, emerging from the Seagrave dressing room, there was a familiar face making his reintroduction into the group. Abdul Fatawu’s long-awaited training return following a lengthy knee injury was welcomed warmly by the group. As sharp as ever, quick to get to grips with the pace of the session, it was like he’d never been away, albeit with work to do towards full match fitness.
Lunch was soon served up in the restaurant, before players benefitted from rest and recovery ahead of the afternoon session. There was also time on Wednesday for Stolarczyk, fresh from signing a contract extension in the off-season, to sit down for a quick chat with us, discussing his eagerness to get back out onto the pitch this weekend.

“There’s only so much you can do on the training pitch,” the Polish shot-stopper admitted. “Nothing tests your fitness and abilities as much as the games so it’s good to have the first friendly straight away on Saturday at the end of the first week. We’re all looking forward to getting those first minutes under our belts.”
With some more players in the group by the end of the week, including Kasey McAteer and Hamza Choudhury, another double session on Friday was the final chance to prepare for that first friendly against Peterborough, with another coming up against OH Leuven at LCFC Training Ground next Saturday (3pm kick-off), which will also be available to watch for free via YouTube and Foxes Hub.
All of our pre-season matches will be streamed on those platforms, while tickets for our friendly against Fiorentina at King Power Stadium on Sunday 3 August (3pm kick-off) remain on sale. And don’t forget you can purchase audio and video passes to watch this season’s Sky Bet Championship fixtures on Foxes Hub, with a range of options available.
