Sunday's action at King Power Stadium sees Amandine Miquel's side search for redemption against the Reds, following our narrow 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. A missed opportunity, but City have the chance to bounce back this weekend against a side we shared the points with at the start of the season..
Foxes camp
Beaten by Spurs last time out.
Two games in since the restart of the campaign, and the Foxes have seen one win and one defeat; beating Stoke City 4-1 in the Adobe Women's FA Cup Fourth Round was followed by a loss in London. An unfortunate own goal from Janina Leitzig in the early stages was the only difference as Leicester pushed but couldn't prevail against a tough opponent. Currently 11th in the standings on six points, a win would add great confidence to the squad as we continue the challenge of retaining our top flight status.
The opposition
This weekend's opponents.
Just below mid-table, Liverpool have successfully established themselves as a WSL side since their promotion in 2022, and have won three during the term.
Their New Year has started well, beating Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 last weekend, but were fortunate with an 82nd minute own goal to take the points after Nikita Parris cancelled out Olivia Smith's first half goal.
Although conceding more than the Foxes this season, they have scored 11 times, four of which came from their top scorer Mia Enderby.
In the dugout
Under Matt Beard's management, Liverpool sit seventh in the standings.
Matt Beard has held the reigns at Liverpool since 2021 and won 42 per cent of his 78 games in charge, which included his title charge in the Barclays Women's Championship.
Experience with West Ham United and Bristol City also on his CV, the 47-year-old manager won England's top division in the women's game twice, in consecutive season back in 2013 and 2014, during his first stint at the Merseyside club.
Last time out
Jutta Rantala ensured a point on the opening day.
Matches between Leicester and Liverpool have famously held weight as entertaining games, with the last two results on Filbert Way ending 4-0; each team on the victors side once.
In the reverse fixture this season, City came from behind to draw 1-1 at the Totally Wicked Stadium as Jutta Rantala, currently sidelined with a knee injury, latched on to Yuka Momiki's through ball and fired under Racheal Laws. The Finnish superstar was our hero 10 months ago at Prenton Park when she scored a brace in front of the Foxes faithful to confirm an FA Cup Semi-Final against Spurs.
How to follow
