It finished 1-1 between Leicester City and Millwall on Friday night
Harry Souttar scored for the Foxes on his return from a long-term injury
Hamza Choudhury gave his take on the home draw which came following our relegation to Sky Bet League One
The Foxes led through Harry Souttar’s 78th-minute goal, before Macaulay Langstaff drew the promotion-chasing Lions level in added-time, taking a share of the spoils back to south London in what was our final home match of 25/26.
“In isolation I think in bits, again, we were probably okay,” the 26-year-old commented following full-time at King Power Stadium. “We were good in bits and not so good in other bits.
“We probably got our goal a bit against the run of play. We looked quite solid and then, like the whole season, we just lack the concentration and we were punished. But we didn't cave in, we didn't fold, and it’s not the worse way to end.
“I think it's just lapses in concentration all over the pitch, in defence, missed chances, mistakes leading to goals. It’s pretty much been the story of our season and sometimes the way football goes, you get punished for them.
“We’ve been punished for everything we’ve done wrong this season and too right. No one owes us anything. You can’t make that many mistakes again and expect to win games.”
Relegated from the Sky Bet Championship earlier this week, Choudhury, who took the captain’s armband against Millwall, reflected on what has been an extremely tough period for everyone connected to the Club.
He continued: “I don't necessarily think we haven't had the fight in there, probably it has translated like that out on the pitch or looked like that from the stands, but playing under different pressure to what a lot of the lads maybe are used to, it can affect players in different ways.
“That’s not making any excuses, that's just the reality of the situation we're in. Everyone cares, for sure. I know everyone will question that, and whether we care, but honestly, we do.
“The last couple of weeks have been tough, a real tough time for the whole Club, for the city, for the fans. We know we need to rebuild. We need to go back to the drawing board.”
City’s goalscorer, Souttar, was making his return to the pitch for the first time in almost a year-and-a-half, having last played competitively in late 2024. The centre-back produced an impressive display and Choudhury was pleased to see him finally back out there.
“He’s been through it," the Bangladesh international said. “Sixteen months is a long time to be out of football and to come back into a tough situation and play like that is unbelievable, but that’s just credit to Soutts and what kind of person he is.
“He’s a really, really strong character and even without playing, so I'm really happy for him. He was probably our best player tonight. It’s really good to have him back.”
