  • We beat Stockport County 4-3 at Edgeley Park on Saturday afternoon
  • Debutant John Lundstram was among the goalscorers for the Foxes - Liam Cullen and Emil Riis (2) also netted in the Sky Bet League One triumph
  • The experienced midfielder reflected on holding out to claim three points
Having taken the lead through Liam Cullen, an Emil Riis double and Lundstram’s debut header saw City hold a 4-1 advantage early in the second half.
However, two quick-fire goals from the hosts had us on the back foot, with half an hour still to play, but we held out to claim a first away triumph of the Sky Bet League One season in front of 1,160 travelling Foxes fans.

“Everyone is over the moon,” the midfielder commented following full-time at Edgeley Park. “I think the group needed that. In a funny type of way, in the grand scheme of things, it’ll do us good that we’ve dug in, stuck together, battled out to the end and shown our character. You could see that everyone worked their socks off.
“You go three goals up and maybe a little bit of complacency crept in. They get a goal back and obviously their tails were up then. They’re at home with the crowd so then we absolutely dug in and did everything we could to get the result.
“It’s a tough place to come. They will be up there at the end of the season. I don’t think that many teams will come here and win this season, so we should all be really proud.
“The fans are made up and that made us all happy. They were fantastic. We need more of that together. We know we need to put performances in but when they’re with us, we can really thrive off it.”

Responding well to a disappointing defeat at home to Oxford United, it was a big effort from the squad, he believes, also talking through his first goal for the Club, which came on debut.
“I’m so proud of everyone to come through,” the 32-year-old added. “It was a tough week. Everyone’s really been at it in training and wanted to prove a point. Hopefully we did that.
“We’ve just got to continue. We’re building and hopefully, when we go ahead in the future, we can be a bit more relaxed.
“(For the goal) I was meant to be blocking my man and then it’s come to my head and I’ve thankfully put it in. I’m not really bothered about scoring, I’m more bothered about getting the three points. It’s a cliché but I’m over the moon to get the three points and a win.”
