It’s been seven years since the helicopter accident which led to the passing of our beloved Chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, staff members Kaveporn Punpare and Nusara Suknamai, and pilots Eric Swaffer and Izabela Lechowicz.
Khun Vichai’s belief that anything was possible forged the unforgettable fairytale of our rise to the pinnacle of English football, lifting the Premier League title in 2016.
His vision extended far beyond the pitch, to the creation of the world-class LCFC Training Ground in north Leicestershire and to a deep-rooted culture of generosity and care for our communities. Through countless acts of giving, many carried out quietly and without fanfare, Khun Vichai’s kindness changed lives across our city and county.

On Monday morning, a small gathering of Club personnel assembled in the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Memorial Garden to pay their respects.
Our Men’s First Team was represented by Manager Martí Cifuentes, captain Ricardo Pereira, Hamza Choudhury, Luke Thomas and Jakub Stolarczyk, while LCFC Women players Sam Tierney and Janina Leitzig were also in attendance.
As has become tradition at Leicester City, and in keeping with Khun Vichai’s faith, the ceremony was marked by a Buddhist presence on Filbert Way. The gentle rhythm of monks’ chanting and blessings filled the garden, creating a serene and reflective atmosphere as flowers and messages were laid within the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Memorial Garden.

At Leicester City, we remain deeply committed to honouring Khun Vichai’s remarkable legacy – cherishing the memories we shared and drawing strength and inspiration from his vision as we continue to build our future. All members of our Foxes family are invited to pay their own tributes to Khun Vichai, Kaveporn, Nusara, Eric and Izabela at King Power Stadium over the coming days.
Supporters wishing to visit the Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Memorial Garden are welcome to do so during daylight hours. The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Statue, located in the north-west corner of King Power Stadium, is also accessible to all at any time.
