Starting for the 10th consecutive match since his loan move to South Wales, the 21-year-old midfielder played his part in a win which moves David Hughes’ side on to 11 points and just two from safety.

The Exiles take a break from league duties this weekend to host Gillingham in the Emirates FA Cup First Round – a 3pm kick-off on Saturday.

Also in League 2, Jayden Joseph was on the pitch for Tranmere Rovers as they claimed a late point against Chesterfield, scoring an injury time equaliser to draw 1-1 at Prenton Park.

Battling for victory at Harrogate.

Introduced in the 78th minute of the contest, the 19-year-old defender made his 11th appearance across all competitions for the Merseyside club. Remaining 18th in the fourth tier, a trip to Accrington Stanley is coming up tomorrow (Tuesday) evening, kicking off at 7:45pm.

Up in Scotland, Henry Cartwright came on for the final 10 minutes as Falkirk secured another home victory in the Scottish Premiership, courtesy of a last-minute winner at Falkirk Stadium.

Beating Dundee 2-1, it lifts the Bairns into the top half of the table ahead of travelling to meet reigning champions Celtic at Parkhead on Wednesday (7:45pm kick-off), a chance for the midfielder to make his 15th appearance in a Falkirk shirt.

Cartwright scored his first Falkirk goal against Rangers earlier this month.

Kian Pennant was introduced from the bench in Gateshead’s 2-2 draw against Truro City in the Enterprise National League. Playing 20 minutes at Gateshead International Stadium, the forward could feature again for the Tynesiders in the Emirates FA Cup First Round this Saturday, travelling to take on AFC Wimbledon (3pm kick-off).

Goalkeeper Harry French remained on the bench for Boston United, who claimed a 3-1 victory away at Tamworth, less than a week after joining the National League side on a short-term loan. A trip to Altrincham awaits on Wednesday (7:45pm kick-off).

In Germany, Bilal El Khannouss came on for the final 20 minutes of VfB Stuttgart’s 2-1 home win over Mainz, a fifth straight Bundesliga victory for the side now sitting third in the table. The pair face off again in the DFB-Pokal Cup on Wednesday (5pm kick-off).

Across to Italy, Woyo Coulibaly was an unused substitute during Sassuolo’s 1-0 home defeat to AS Roma in Serie A. They’re next in action on Thursday, away to Cagliari (5:30pm kick-off), who sit in 14th, one place below Coulibaly’s adopted side in the table.
