“I first got into football and started watching matches during the 2015/16 season,” he told us. “Coincidentally, it was when Leicester City pulled off the underdog miracle to win the Premier League.
“At that time, I was facing an important exam, and in this team, I saw a true reflection of the spirit that ‘nobles and generals are not born with their status’ - a never-give-up attitude that perfectly echoes the Club’s famous motto: Foxes Never Quit. This spirit deeply inspired me, which is why I chose to become a Foxes fan and support the team.”
Impressively, the LCFC China Supporters Group has around 300 members, though it is not always easy to meet up, given that they live in different parts of the country. Jincheng’s plan, however, is to travel further than just across China, and make his way to an LCFC match on Filbert Way, after getting the opportunity to speak, one-on-one, to a member of the current squad.
“We can only organise offline match-watching gatherings about twice a year,” he explained. “This year, broadcasters have acquired the rights to the EFL, so us Foxes can watch live games on the platform.
“I’ve only watched Leicester games via these live broadcasts and have never been to a match. But my dream is to make a pilgrimage to King Power Stadium and watch a Leicester City game there. The trip has been in the planning stages, and I’m sure I’ll soon be able to experience the electric atmosphere at the King Power Stadium first-hand!
“I haven’t met any of the players in person yet, but in September 2023, thanks to an event organised by the Club, I was lucky enough to have a chat with Ricardo Pereira via video call. That’s truly a wonderful memory I’ll never forget!”
