Danny Drinkwater pulled the Foxes shirt back on for the first time since 2017
LCFC Legends beat an All Star XI 4-2 on penalties at King Power Stadium
The game, raising funds for the VS Foundation and Leicester City in the Community, had ended 0-0 in normal time
Our former No.4 was pleased to see his former team-mates a decade on from Premier League glory
Drinkwater partnered Andy King in the centre of a star-studded legends side that went on to beat a side managed by Tony Pulis 4-2 on penalties after a deadlock in regular time.
A decade on from us hoisting the Premier League trophy and being crowned champions, Drinkwater was ecstatic to be back and catch up with his title winning team-mates: “It was good, really good to get the lads back together and good to get back in the stadium.”
The former midfielder also admitted the occasion was sorer on his body than he expected: "Yes [my legs were] tired towards the end, you forget how big a pitch is!”
For Danny, time has flown by since we earned champion status and rekindling with his teammates has been a full-circle moment for our former No.4: “It puts it into perspective really, it’s gone super quick, but getting all the lads together, with the majority of the squad, it’s been brilliant.”
He added: “It’s really good to spend some time together again and have a run around.”
Prior to the charity match, which was raising funds for The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation and Leicester City in the Community, the LCFC Legends prepared in a training session at LCFC Training Ground.
On the session, Drinkwater said jokingly: “I bet it was good to watch!
“It was fun and I think it sums up the squad we’ve got, we can disappear for three or four years, not speak and then we’re back to being best mates the day after, so credit to the team.”
