Friday’s headline was that our Finnish forward, Rantala, has sustained a knee injury in our previous game against Brighton & Hove Albion, which a scan showed damage to her left meniscus.

Dealing with the recent news, Passmoor provided a short update on the events, and showed his support to a player who will undergo another spell on the sidelines.

“We had a concern with Jutta [Rantala],” the Manager admitted. “She came off (against Brighton) with a suspected knee injury and this week she’s has seen a specialist and the unfortunate news is about her meniscus in the left knee.

News broke on Friday afternoon of a knee injury to Jutta Rantala.

“So, our thoughts are with Jutta, who has fought hard to get back, and was working towards being part of this project, but it could be as early as next week that she has surgery and we’re fully behind her.”

Going on to talk about the rest of the squad, the Manager provided an update on Noémie Mouchon, Heather Payne and Denny Draper, who are at different stages with the rehabilitation programme.

He also spoke about Missy Goodwin, Janice Cayman and Julie Thibaud, who missed out on Brighton with illness, but cannot confirm whether they will be fit to return to action this weekend, when we face Crystal Palace in our final group stage game of the Subway Women's League Cup.

Passmoor added: “Aside from that, Heather [Payne] is continuing her rehab with the medical team, Noémie [Mouchon] will potentially be back training before Christmas.

The Manager provided an update on the other absentees from Brighton.

“Denny [Draper] is seven weeks post her operation and she is progressing well, and we’ve also had a bug in and around camp.

“Missy [Goodwin], Julie [Thibaud] and Janice [Cayman] were the most affected from it, so we’ll look and see how they feel tomorrow.

“I’m not expecting all three to be in line for a place because they’ve not had that time on the pitch but we’ll make a late eleventh-hour decision on whether they can be involved."
