Mayling, who has taken on captaincy duties following Sam Tierney’s injury, was left frustrated after last weekend’s loss to the Tractor Girls.

A first defeat of the season, the former Aston Villa defender believes that the visitors wanted it more, and that Leicester must learn from the defeat.

“I think we were second to everything today,” the full-back told us. “They got the win and deserved the win. They had more shots than us, but we can’t feel sorry for ourselves.

“This league is ruthless and everyone can beat everyone, so we need to dust ourselves down and go again.

“They were first to the first and second balls, and if you do that in this league, you’re likely to win the game.

“I didn’t think we attacked as well as we have done in previous weeks or got enough shots off to test their ‘keeper.”

The defender also looked ahead to a Players Cup meeting with London City.

Thankfully for the Foxes, There are two quick-fire opportunities to bounce back to winning ways, first of all on Wednesday night when we take on London City at Meadow Lane, before a trip to Newcastle United in the league.

“We’re trying to change the way we’re playing,” Mayling continued. “It’s not going to be smooth sailing and we’re not going to win every game, so we have to learn from it and be better for Wednesday and then Sunday.

“There’s no time to be down about it, but we do have to learn from it.”
