With the 2025/26 WSL season wrapped up, the Foxes have one last match, a crucial play-off decider against WSL2 side Charlton Athletic to remain in the women’s top-flight for the 26/27 season.
Next year sees the expansion of the WSL, from 12 to 14 teams, and a unique play-off tie between the bottom-placed side in the WSL1 and the third placed team in WSL2 this season will decide the final spot.
The fixture is taking place a week after our final fixture of the WSL season, at Charlton’s home venue, and will be broadcast live via Sky Sports and BBC Sport.
Ahead of the all-important match, see below for a look at both sides, and how you can follow the action, both in person and from home…
Charlton in focus
The Addicks taking on Liverpool.
The Addicks ended their WSL2 campaign in third place with an impressive 42 points, just two points off already promoted Birmingham City and Crystal Palace.
From 22 matches, Charlton recorded 12 wins, six draws and four losses, but as of late have failed to register a win since mid-March, with one draw and four losses to conclude their campaign.
Charlton have three marksmen at the top of their scoring charts this season – Jodie Hutton, Lucy Fitzgerald and Gillian Kenny all netted five goals this term and will be ones to keep an eye on this Saturday.
The Foxes camp
Hannah Cain in action against the Toffees.
We ended our WSL campaign with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park. A 96th minute winner from Mayumi Pacheco sealed an 11th straight league defeat for Rick Passmoor’s side.
Jutta Rantala took to the field for just the second time on her road to full recovery from a meniscus injury she picked up versus Brighton & Hove Albion back in November. The Finnish forward also featured against Chelsea at the beginning of the month.
Foxes’ forward Shannon O’Brien, meanwhile, will be keen to end her season on a high after netting a fifth WSL goal of the season in our 3-1 defeat against Chelsea at the start of May.
