Manager Rick Passmoor shared his thoughts after the full-time whistle

Our 100 per cent start to the new season continued at the weekend after we came from behind to beat Durham 4-2 on home soil.

Paulina Nyström levelled things up before Jess Ziu and Asmita Ale put the game out of reach by the break. The visitors did get one back, but a late own goal from Sarah Wilson ensured another win for Passmoor’s side, who he believed were the strongest outfit on the day.

“I’m delighted for the players and the staff, but also for the fans, because it’s been a long time hasn’t it,” he explained to us.

Jess Ziu and Paulina Nyström both scored on their home debuts.

“Our identity was very clear, particularly in the first half. When we went 1-0 down, there was no panic because I believed in the style of play and the players themselves, and to go in at 3-1 up was our just deserts.

“It’s better to find a way to win. We’ve had a lot of new players in the building, so we needed to make sure that the players buy in to the new process.

“It’ll be a bumpy road, and it won’t always be perfect, but we need to understand it’s a process, but today, everyone invested in our plan, by moving the ball quickly and exploiting certain areas, so it was a team effort.”

The Manager commended the effort from the fans on Filbert Way.

Passmoor is keen to keep grounded, admitting it won’t always be easy in this division, but he has been proud of the way the players and staff alike have bought into the new philosophy.

“Four goals at home, I’m not sure the last time that happened,” our Manager continued. “I’m delighted for the fans, because they deserve it.

“So keep coming down to King Power Stadium, keep backing us and sticking with us, because the players do appreciate it.”
