LCFC Women were beaten 1-0 by Everton on Saturday afternoon
Rick Passmoor spoke about the positives to take from Goodison Park
We face Charlton Athletic this weekend in the WSL Play-Off
Mayumi Pacheco’s injury-time winner was a gutting blow for the Foxes, who were on track to end the regular season with a point, which could’ve been uplifting heading into our play-off game at the Valley. However, the Manager believes the squad can still take confidence into their trip to London this week, having seen an improvement from his side at Goodison Park.
“There’s lots of positives in terms of style of play,” Passmoor explained. “But when talking about behaviours, players taking responsibility, that was first and foremost the most important aspect, to make sure we were a collective.
The Foxes lost late on at Goodison Park.
“At times we were the better team, we landed on the second balls quite a lot, we created chances and could’ve scored a couple of least, and that does change the outlook of the game.
“But when we review the game, there will be plenty of positives we can take into next week.
“Each individual, whether they started or came off the bench, executed the gameplan and focused on what we wanted them to do as individuals.
“I think there’s a load of positives, but it’s about taking the lead, and I think you’ll find if we score the first, we’ll get the second and third.”
Thibaud won POTM on Saturday afternoon.
Admitting that this season has provided a second chance of survival, after finishing the bottom of the WSL, Passmoor knows the challenge that Charlton will pose, but encourages the Foxes to head into the game with belief that they can get the job done.
He added: “I wanted to see character and respect and make sure they were playing for the badge and each other, and it was about trying to outcompete your individual player, which I think at times, we did today.
“Charlton are a well-drilled side, and we’ve got to be on our a-game next week to make sure we get something from it.
“That’s the aim (to stay in the league) and it has been since I came in this year, and we’ve got one more bite of the cherry so let’s make sure we do it.”
