With 2025/26 and a fifth straight season in the top division of English women’s football approaching, Manager Amandine Miquel got straight down to business, starting planning for what is expected to be an ultra-competitive Barclays Women’s Super League.
The likes of Janina Leitzig, Missy Goodwin, Julie Thibaud, Sam Tierney, Shannon O’Brien and Nelly Las were among those to return, fresh from signing new contracts at the Football Club this summer, and there were plenty of smiles around the building as catch-ups commenced over breakfast.
It was soon time for a series of medical screenings and gym tests to commence prior to lunch, including range of motion testing, isokinetic and isometric strength assessments, as well as jump testing and nutrition, as the group were tested to the maximum on day one.
The players arrive for the first day of pre-season ahead of the 2025/26 Barclays Women's Super League campaign.
The footballs were then out in the afternoon, getting straight into ball work, including rondos and possession drills out on the pitches at Belvoir Drive.
Speaking straight after coming off the pitch, record LCFC Women appearance holder Tierney shared her excitement for the weeks to come, having been reunited with team-mates and now beginning to build up fitness.
"First of all, it's nice to be with the girls again and ask what they've been doing over the holidays," the 26-year-old told us. "Getting back on the pitch and just getting used to having the ball back at your feet again and getting your touch, it took a little while at times but we're finding a bit of rhythm.
"You get used to playing with each other. There's obviously players we've known for a while and then we're getting used to the newer players and trying to gel quite quickly because in football things move quick.
Testing and screenings in the gym were the order of the day during the Foxes’ pre-season return to Belvoir Drive this Monday.
"It's been nice to have Noémie [Mouchon] and Denny [Draper] who have been coming back (from injury). That's been good to get the group back to where we need to be.
"We've done a bit of testing and profiling in the gym as well but as the week goes on, we'll definitely be in there more and getting back into the routine."
